Denotations and Connotations GCSE Media By Tanish

Denotations and connotation
In this media text, the connotations are that there is a boy with a blue shirt who is standing here a clay wall. From the expression from his face, he looks very upset and has tears in his eyes which makes me think of the quote "looking blue" since represents tears. In the back I see a sandy area in the back which tells me there is a lack of water. There is a Wateraid logo with a blue droplet next to it which is intending a quote saying "Dig Toilets Not graves".The connotations I get from this quote is that this kid is really struggling due to lack of water and toilets. The company Wateraid makes the kid wear a blue worn out t-shirt to make the audience will sympathy and donate the money to help this kids to get clean water and toilets which will save their lives. The sand wall in the back makes me think that this is a based in a developing country because in a country like the UK there would be windows and solid brick structures rather a plain piece of earth to make a building. The colour white in the quote may represent respect and changing people's lives since the colour white is used as in a new start like on paper. You can start a new drawing on paper just like you can make a new beginning/change in someone else's life.

Image result for nike advert

In this media text, the connotations are there is a high-quality image of clouds and a nice, smooth sky. In the middle of the advert, it states the quote "STOP DREAMING START WORKING". The connotations of the colour white is high up and commitment. This is because white links to heaven and purity since angels are the colour white. The clouds represent that we should aim high and achieve it. Also, that if we work we can achieve all our dreams. The black text is black because it represents Nike since their logo is a black tick. It tells us we can't achieve things just by dreaming about them and everyone has to work hard and fully commit to what they want to achieve. The blue may be a typically gender specific because the gender stereotype is mostly male people that like blue which might mean the product is directed more towards male rather than female. This should not be the case.
