Media Assessment February

 1) Type up your feedback in full (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential). WWW- This is a solid assessment with clear potential to go higher with a focus on exam technique. EBI- You cover the basics of terminology well but now need to add depth and sophistication to your analysis to reach the higher levels. Consider the different ways a text might be read by the audience. Q2 needs sharper question focus : British cultural values.

2) Read the mark scheme for this assessment carefully. Write down the mark you achieved for each question:

Q1: 2
Q2: 6
Q3: 4

3) Did you get any media terminology wrong in the assessment? Make a note of it here for future revision:
No I didn't.
4) Look specifically at question 2 - pick out three points from the mark scheme that you didn't include in your analysis of the unseen Grazia magazine cover. I didn't include the facts about the colour scheme, stereotypes of male and female and the main flash.

5) Now look at question 3. Use the mark scheme to identify three points you could have made regarding how Tatler reflects British social and cultural values. I could have made the point that Tatler is acting high brow but is actually low brow. Another point I could have made is most of the photos are studio shots which can mean Tatler is very well-known since celebrities are on the cover. The last point I could have made is how the scenery is in nature. This can mean that British life is very layed-back and relaxed if you are rich.
