Audience Effects Theory GCSE Media

1.Passive: This is the view that audiences passively take in information from the media and that these messages have the same effect on everyone.

2.Active: This is the more modern and generally accepted view that audiences interact with and make conscious choices regarding the media they consume.

3. Hypodermic Needle: This is the suggestion that audiences are always passive and therefore take the intended message from the producer as if it was injected into their minds. This assumes no individual difference in audience members. 

INFORMATION/SURVEILLANCE: The traffic - its helps to get to know how long a journey to a location would be.
IDENTITY: A movie about a school - You could relate to how it works it at school to your own school.
DIVERSION/ENTERTAINMENT: The Simpsons- This intrigues you with its humour and makes you entertains away from your actual life aka escapism.
RELATIONSHIPS: A TV Series- You can get to know the characters and build a relationship with them. 

 It states facts and information which helps the audience in knowledge.
 It is about the world we are living in and its creatures.: Shows us our world and how beautiful it is.
 It takes us into a different world then the one we are living in.
 We can disconnect from the real world.

   The audience likes to tune into what he has to say and gets the know the narrator
